Sanjoy Bhattacharya invited to comment on report to the United Nations Human Rights Council

The Centre for Global Health Histories' Director Sanjoy Bhattacharya has been invited by the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to health to provide expert consultation and commentary on the right to health and deprivation of liberty.

This is part of a consultation process which will include individuals and family members who have been directly affected by incarceration, as well as academics, activists, and international institutional actors. The special rapporteur is seeking free discussion and insights on how to harness the right to health as a means to scrutinise existing detention regimes.

The Special Rapporteur on the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health is Mr. Dainius Pūras, a medical doctor with notable expertise on mental health and child‘s health.
