Global health research: Challenges with data management and data sharing across continents

It will look at low-middle income countries in particular, and start the conversation around potential solutions.

The workshop will involve the following activities:

  • Background information around data management (broadly) and data sharing issues (specifically) (presented by: ASTRA, RESPIRE and RECHARGE teams)
  • Explore what entails data sharing
  • Explore practical issues in terms of data sharing
  • Discuss the advantages/disadvantages of data sharing
  • Discuss the barriers around data sharing
  • Discuss the facilitators around data sharing
  • Wrap up: main points to consider around data sharing

This workshop is a joint collaboration between the ASTRA team at the University of York, the RESPIRE team at the University of Edinburgh and the RECHARGE team at the University of Leicester. The three projects involve a number of partners from South East Asia [Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka]. ASTRA, RESPIRE and RECHARGE team members are also involved in work across other projects with collaborators from across the globe.
