These scholarships and studentships are available to undergraduate students in the Department of Economics and Related Studies.

Your chosen course, level of study and other statuses may all affect your eligibility for the opportunities listed here.

Holbeck Scholarship

These scholarships are open to pupils from schools and colleges in the Yorkshire and Humber region, who are applying to any UK university (not just York) for entry in September 2024.

Dean's Global Excellence Scholarship

To reward excellence, the Dean's Global Excellence Scholarship offers a tuition fee discount to talented undergraduate students within the faculties.

  • Funding: Full fee tuition discount for the first year followed by £10,000 tuition fee discount for the second and third year.
  • Academic year: 2024/25
  • Open to: International (including EU) students
  • Number available: 2 per faculty

International Regional Scholarships

Our International Regional Scholarship is here to support undergraduate and postgraduate students from disadvantaged countries to help them excel.

  • Funding: up to £7,500 (first year of study only)
  • Academic year: 2024/25
  • Open to: International (including EU) students

International Achievement Scholarship

Through this scholarship, we aim to celebrate the achievements of our best and brightest undergraduate international applicants.

  • Funding: £10,000 (first year of study only)
  • Academic year: 2024/25

  • Number available: 50

Equal Access Scholarship (undergraduate)

We're pleased to offer two Equal Access Scholarships for undergraduate students who are seeking refuge in the UK. Please note that you must have applied to the University of York before submitting an application for this scholarship.

  • Funding: £12,300 living costs plus a full fee waiver
  • Academic year: 2023/24
  • Open to: International (non-EU) students
  • Number available: 2

Cowrie Foundation Scholarship

Created to offer support to Black British undergraduates from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

  • Funding: Tuition fees at the UK (home) rate, plus a maintenance stipend of up to £8,000 for each year of your course
  • Academic year: 2025/26
  • Open to: UK (home) students
  • Number available: Two

York Bursary

Depending on your household residual income you could be eligible for our non-repayable York bursary.

  • Funding: Annual award over the course of your degree
  • Academic year: 2023/24
  • Open to: UK (home) students

Care Leavers and Estranged Students Bursary

This bursary is for students aged under 25, who come to York as care leavers or who are irreconcilably estranged from their parents.

  • Funding: Annual awards over the duration of your course

York Refugee Bursary

The Refugee Bursary is a non-repayable award for students who come to York and have a Refugee immigration status.

York Minster Choral Scholarships

York Minster offers choral scholarships lasting 12 months or longer to altos, tenors and basses who are undergraduate or postgraduate students.

  • Funding: £7032.48

St Wilfrid's Church Scholarship

The Oratory of St Philip Neri at St Wilfrid's Catholic Church offers choral scholarships for soprano, alto, tenor and bass to form a quartet.

  • Funding: £1500 each
  • Academic year: 2024/25
  • Application deadline: Sunday 30 June 2024, 11.15am BST
  • Open to: International (including EU) and UK (home) students
  • Number available: 4

Yorkshire Bach Choir

We are now accepting applications for our choral scholarship scheme for 2023/24. The 12-month scholarships will be open to all four voice parts.

  • Funding: £500 (to be paid in 2 instalments, one in December, one in June)
  • Academic year: 2024/25
  • Application deadline: Friday 15 November 2024, 12pm GMT
