Drama, Dance and Cinematics at York ranked joint 1st in the UK according to the latest release of the Complete University Guide league tables (2024).

This week, we confirmed our place among the UK’s most highly regarded departments for the subject of Drama, Dance and Cinematics. The School of Arts and Creative Technologies ranked joint 1st in the UK in The Complete University Guide 2024.

Published annually, The Complete University Guide league tables rank the best universities in the UK, overall and within 74 subject areas. Overall, universities and subjects are ranked on entry standards, student satisfaction, research quality, graduate prospects, completion rates, student-staff ratio and spend on academic services and facilities.

The rankings are based on public domain data collected by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), the National Student Survey and the Research Excellence Framework 2021.

Head of School, Dr Áine Sheil said, "I am delighted that the fantastic work of my colleagues in the School of Arts and Creative Technologies and our superb facilities for students have been recognised as subject-leading. York’s overall position

Out of 130 UK universities, the University of York ranked joint 17th overall in The Complete University Guide 2024.

In total, thirteen subjects at the University of York were ranked in the UK top 10; Archaeology (8th), Biological Sciences (8th), Chemistry (7th), Drama, Dance and Cinematics (joint 1st) English (7th), French (4th), History (9th), History of Art, Architecture and Design (6th), Iberian Languages - Spanish (4th), Linguistics (8th), Nursing (8th), Social Policy (9th) and Social Work (3rd).
