The School of Arts and Creative Technologies has recorded a strong performance in the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF) results.

Our film, theatre and interactive media-related research recorded a strong performance with more than 83 per cent of its research impact given a four-star rating - the highest possible under REF’s rating system.

In music, 100 per cent of support given to researchers - known as the research environment - and 100 per cent of research impact being rated as ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’. Also, 74 per cent or music’s research outputs were judged as ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’.

Speaking about the University's overall REF performance and its joint 10th position in the UK, Professor Matthias Ruth, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research, said: “Our congratulations to all involved: the brilliant academics and professional service colleagues who closely worked with each other on our REF submission, those who served on REF assessment panels, and the wider community of staff, research partners and supporters who helped make this outstanding result possible.”
