UG Student Joshua Quinlan Made an RSA Fellow
Third-year Music student Joshua Quinlan has been made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA).
Here's what Joshua had to say about it: 'The RSA has been leading social change within the Arts for over 200 years, and to have been made a Fellow of this amazing organisation is a huge honour! It presents a wonderful opportunity for me to network with other like-minded musicians and artists, and to collaborate on projects that can really make a difference within the music industry. I just can't wait to get started.'
Joshua is a conductor and composer. Here at York, he regularly performs as the Bass Clarinettist in the Neptune Clarinet Quartet, as a baritone in The 24 and as a clarinettist in the University Symphony Orchestra. He is also the Musical Director of the University of York Gilbert and Sullivan Society.
Outside of the Department, he is the Principal Conductor of Sinfonia Borealis, a new orchestra which he founded in 2019, and a member of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain Chamber Choir. He has also received numerous commissions from organisations including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Tate Modern, the Wilfred Owen Commemoration Festival and mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnston.
