Discovering Young Composers of Europe York PhD Student on a New CD
Andreas Tsiartas work 'Ìérkos for ensemble' (2020) has been recorded on a new CD release by the Stradivarius label, as part of his award for winning the competition Discovering Young Composers of Europe (DYCE) in 2019.
Ìérkos was premiered in November 2020 by Ensemble Taller Sonoro, in Seville, Spain and subsequently by Cikada Ensemble (Oslo, Norway), Ensemble U: (Tallinn, Estonia), and Divertimento Ensemble (Milano, Italy) in December 2020. The recording took place in December 2020 in Oslo with the Cikada Ensemble conducted by Christian Eggen.
Andreas is currently in his writing- up year for his PhD in Composition under the supervision of Professor Thomas Simaku. He was recently been commissioned by the Ensemble Intercontemporain to write a new piece for ensemble to be premiered in March 2022 at the Philharmonie de Paris.
