The York Sustainability Network brings together alumni, staff and students who are passionate about overcoming the challenges facing our planet and creates a forum to share new ideas and solutions to create a more sustainable world.

Being out in nature is known to improve our wellbeing as well as having a positive impact on our local environment. With this in mind, the Alumni Sustainability Network is working on a series of wellbeing action days to take place throughout the year. Alumni Action Day: City Nature Challenge
Our first Alumni Action Day is City Nature Challenge. It is a 4-day worldwide bioblitz-style competition where cities are in a friendly contest with each other to see who can make the most observations of nature, and who can find the most species!

Sustainability has been an important part of York for many years and is one of the key research themes. The launch of the 2022-30 Sustainability Plan also sees the University committing to becoming carbon neutral by 2030.
