Event details

This public lecture showcases some of the work of the Rising from the Depths GCRF Network, which is working to promote marine cultural heritage in eastern Africa as a route to sustainable development. It features a series of short talks introducing the project agenda and then reporting on two of the projects funded by the network, in Kenya and in Madagascar.

Agenda:

Jon Henderson, University of Nottingham - 'Rising from the Depths: introducing the network'

Caesar Bita, National Museums of Kenya - 'MUCH to discover in Mida Creek'

Jonathan Skinner, Roehamption University - 'SEED and the Sainte Luce Festival of the Sea: an AHRC partnership project to reharbour heritage and highlight sustainable development goals in one of Madagascar’s conservation zones'

You can read more about all of these projects on the Projects pages of the RftD webpage.

The talks will last for approximately one hour, followed by a wine reception.
