Typical offers

The decision to make an offer is usually reliant on the UCAS form alone, but some mature applicants may be invited for interview. If you are offered a place you will be invited to visit the School of SPS during the Spring Term in order to meet with members of staff and students from the three departments.

Typical offers are:

  • A Level – AAB
  • International Baccalaureate - 35 points
  • Scottish Qualifications - AAAAB at Higher level
  • BTEC - DDD in National Diploma

For details of other acceptable qualifications see York Student Recruitment and Admissions.

English as a foreign language requires IELTS 6.5.

You are strongly encouraged to choose your degree carefully as post-entry requests for a change of programme may not be accommodated.

Widening access

The School of Social and Political Sciences is committed to widening access and our selection process takes account of a range of educational, social, health and other personal disadvantages.

We are also interested in encouraging applications from mature students and students from other countries who through their range of experiences we believe make a valuable contribution to the learning and social aspects of the School and are accordingly most welcome.
