Event details

Our first YESI session this semester aims to better prepare researchers for the nuances of reviewing grants in the interdisciplinary environmental sustainability space. While this session is specifically tailored to the needs of Early Career Researchers (ECRs—broadly defined from PhDs to lecturers), we welcome researchers of any level who wish to sharpen their peer-review skills.

We offer this session because we recognise that systematic preparation is rarely provided before individuals are asked to peer-review grant proposals, whether internally or as part of external panels.

What to Expect:

  • Expert Insights: We will hear about internal demand management from Robyn Cooper Inglis (Research Development Manager), followed by perspectives on submitting to and serving on UK and international panels from Oliver Andrews (DEG), Kelly Redeker (Biol), and Judith Krauss (Pol).

  • Practical Application: We will collaboratively review anonymised past applications for YESI Fellowships, stepping into the shoes of a panel member to evaluate what makes a proposal successful.

  • Open Q&A: As ever, there will be plenty of opportunity for questions!
