Professor Stevi Jackson is working on theoretical approaches to issues of modernity, gender and intimacy in Asia and is collaborating with East Asian scholars on associated projects. 

Stevi has been working with Dr Ho Sik Ying (University of Hong Kong) on research entitled ‘Gender, intimacy and modernity , East and West’ with Dr Sik-ying Ho, University of Hong Kong, jointly funded by The Research Grants Council of Hong Kong and the Economic and Social Research Council, UK (Grant number 000-22-3628. A number of papers have been published from this project and a book is in preparation.  

Stevi is also working with Dr Ho researching the impact of Hong Kong’s Umbrella Movement and the wider struggle for democracy on personal and family life. Further projects on intimate relationships involving colleagues in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan are in the planning stage.
