Professor Nicolas Gisin

Professor Nicolas Gisin is a Swiss physicist. He is internationally renowned for his work in quantum communication and the foundations of quantum mechanics.

He is Professor Emeritus at the University of Geneva and a professor at Constructor University, Switzerland. After earning his PhD in physics in 1981, he worked in industry before returning to academia in 1988 to lead the optics section of Geneva’s Group of Applied Physics. 

His pioneering research in quantum cryptography and entanglement has led to multiple patents and startups, including ID Quantique. Gisin is also the author of Quantum Chance and a recipient of the Marcel Benoist and John Stewart Bell Prizes.
