Dr Hayaatun Sillem CBE
Dr Hayaatun Sillem CBE is a science and engineering policy leader.
She is the CEO of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering Foundation. She also advises the UK’s Advanced Research and Invention Agency, is a trustee of several charities, and a non-executive director at engineering and construction company Laing O’Rourke.
She co-founded the Academy’s Enterprise Hub, a leading deep tech accelerator, and co-chaired Sir Lewis Hamilton’s commission on improving black representation in motorsport.
Named one of Europe’s ‘Inspiring 50’ women in tech, she holds a PhD in biochemistry and was awarded a CBE in 2019 for services to international engineering.
