Congratulations to Professor Ruth Penfold-Mounce from the Department of Sociology, who was invited to a Royal Garden Party on Wednesday 6 May at Buckingham Palace to recognise her achievements in education.
The nomination by the Department of Education followed Ruth’s award from the National Teaching Fellowship in 2025 for her outstanding contribution to teaching excellence in higher education - which marked the first such award in the Sociology Department.
Ruth’s academic career focuses on innovation and creativity in University teaching practice, including learning on the move, which she uses to teach crime and deviance, death studies, popular culture and celebrity.
The Royal celebration marks Ruth’s dedication, leadership and impact in the social sciences, and it couldn't be more well deserved.
