Event details

The course can be taken as a one day course or a three-day course.

Day one: The challenges, applications and the current state-of-the-art in underwater acoustic communication and networking will be covered. A live demo of an underwater acoustic data communication and positioning network will be shown, along with a talk on the process of designing, building and testing real underwater acoustic systems at sea. As such, the programme for Day one is designed to: a) provide background knowledge for the deeper technical sessions in Days 2-3; b) provide essential background knowledge for stakeholders, e.g. executives, team leaders, operators, project managers in the subsea industries.

Days two and three: A "deep-dive" into the subjects of signal processing, underwater acoustic modem design, and underwater network development and how they enable subsea telemetry, real-time control, and positioning. This part of the course is aimed at attendees with engineering/scientific background, e.g. engineers, researchers, academics involved in developing underwater technologies. By the end of Day 3, the attendees will have the knowledge to develop and test underwater acoustic communication and network solutions, with example code and designs provided in the course material.
