Georgina's placement year so far

Find out how one of our placement students is getting on

Georgina English is one of our Politics and International Relations (with a Year in Industry) students and is currently on placement as a Talent Development Intern at Travelport.

Georgina says "I wanted to take a placement year to help aid me with my future career choice after university. A placement year would allow me to work in a role that I had been thinking about for my future and I would be able to see if that was the right direction for me.

My placement is going so well, I love organising and coordinating projects with my colleagues and fellow interns. I am becoming more confident in speaking my ideas whilst also growing as a person and being able to take control of situations when nobody else wants to.

The interns have projects that they work on together. We get to choose a charity that we want to support as a group and then organise all the events to help raise funds. We are guided at first but then we are able to plan any activities and fundraising events that we see fit. It is so much fun.

I have been lucky enough to work the first month of my placement in the office as it is a struggle working from home in such a tight space. I moved away from my family in order to be close to the office but now with a new lockdown being implemented I will be working from home - this is going to be a challenge but I am also very excited for this opportunity because I am in a new place so close to Windsor where there are lots of walks to explore."
