The York Centre for Conflict and Security (YCCS) supports interdisciplinary research on all areas broadly related to conflict and security.

Any staff or students working on conflict and security are welcome to get in touch to discuss ways YCCS can support your research or help connect with scholars across departments and disciplines.

  • Our team have worked with a wide range of policy-makers, think-tanks, charities and practitioners, including the UN, the Foreign Office, the EU, and RUSI.
  • Our researchers regularly publish books with internationally recognised publishers including Oxford and Cambridge University Presses.
  • We use a range of qualitative and quantitative methods, conducting ethnographic fieldwork in Cyprus, Azerbaijan, South Africa and Iraq amongst others. We have expertise in quantitative methods conducting cross-national research examining the drivers of international and intranational conflict.
