York Centre for Conflict and Security

Welcome to the York Centre for Conflict and Security (YCCS), a major new interdisciplinary centre for research and practice examining Global Security Challenges and the causes of international and civil conflicts around the world.

Our researchers study a wide range of topics including nuclear proliferation, global health security, peacebuilding after civil wars, political violence, gender, and terrorism. Led by the Department of Politics and International Relations, with partners worldwide we use interdisciplinary and innovative approaches to tackle security challenges across the Globe.

Study with us

Develop an in-depth understanding of the nature of contemporary armed conflicts, transitions from war to peace, and challenges of post-war peacebuilding with our MA Peace and Conflict studies course.

Our team have worked with a wide range of policy-makers, think-tanks, charities and practitioners, including the UN, the Foreign Office, the EU, and RUSI. Below we showcase.

The Centre hosts lectures, workshops and seminar series relating to all aspects of inter and intra-state conflict throughout the year. We have had invited speakers from around the world to talk about their work investigating conflict and security.

There are no events to show here right now. Please check back another time.
