Andrew Bettany has been awarded Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) status, an annual award which recognises exceptional technology community leaders worldwide.
I am honoured to have been awarded MVP status and hope that this will help increase the profile of the IT Academy and the excellent service the University offers
The award is presented to those who share their high quality, real world expertise with users and Microsoft, helping people maximise their use of technology.
Most Valuable Professionals are present in over 90 countries, spanning more than 30 languages and over 90 Microsoft technologies. There are just 5,000 MVPs worldwide, and fewer than 10 in Andrew Bettany’s category – Windows Expert-IT Pro – in the UK.
Rich Kaplan, Corporate Vice President, Microsoft Corporation, said: “MVPs’ efforts enhance people’s lives and contribute to our industry’s success in many ways. By sharing their knowledge and experiences, and providing objective feedback, they help people solve problems and discover new capabilities every day. MVPs are technology’s best and brightest, and we are honoured to welcome Andrew as one of them.”
The University of York’s IT Academy is an accredited Microsoft IT Academy offering the full Microsoft official curriculum. It delivers high quality ICT training for University staff, students and local companies at locations across Yorkshire and Humberside.
Andrew Bettany said: “I am honoured to have been awarded MVP status and hope that this will help increase the profile of the IT Academy and the excellent service the University offers.”
MVPs from around the world have the opportunity to meet Microsoft executives, network with peers and position themselves as technical community leaders. This is achieved through speaking engagements, one-to-one customer event participation and technical content development. MVPs also receive early access to technology through a variety of programmes offered by Microsoft, keeping them at the cutting edge of the software and hardware industry.
