Simon Armitage first came to public attention with the publication of a collection of poetry entitled Zoom! in 1989. His career has gone on to span novels, plays and memoirs accompanied by regular appearances on radio and television.

The event on Wednesday, 20 January, is part of the Writers at York series hosted by the University’s Department of English and Related Literature.

Geoffrey Wall, organiser of the Writers at York series, said: “Simon Armitage is one of this country’s most talented writers whose work has found a huge audience.

“His reading at the University is a great opportunity for people to gain a better insight into both him and his work.”

The event begins at 6pm in the Bowland Lecture Theatre in the Berrick Saul Building on the University of York campus. Entrance is free.
