Lifelong Learning Lunchtime Lectures
Friedrich Nietzsche notoriously proclaimed that “God is dead”. This talk will investigate this striking idea and look at a range of late 19th century responses to the decline of Christian belief; from Matthew Arnold in England, through Nietzsche and Wagner in Germany, to Fyodor Dostoevsky in Russia.
