Lifelong Learning Lectures

What sort of figure do you picture when the word “librarian” comes to mind? Are they saying “Shhhh…”? This lecture opens with an overview of the ways in which librarians have been represented in popular culture, from films and TV to novels and journalism. Do these portrayals matter? This lecture will discuss how the popular perception of librarians and librarianship can affect today’s libraries, their users and their staff.
