One Planet Week event

A look at the origins and development of the YNU in the mid-19th Century through to its activities today. The session will consider changes in how biodiversity has been recorded, how the ensuing data are disseminated and the importance of engaging and educating the amateur in biodiversity recording.

About the speaker

Andy Millard chairs the YNU Executive Committee and is their recorder for aculeate hymenoptera. He is also involved in the running of Leeds Naturalists’ Club (another natural history organisation with Victorian origins), tutors for the Open University in environmental science and, before retirement, lectured in ecology and landscape science at Leeds Beckett University.
