William Kaye Sessions was a Quaker, Printer, Publisher, Naturalist, and Philanthropist. He was managing Director of Sessions of York, and established the Sessions Book Trust. He contributed to the Nuffield Trust's survey of poverty among the elderly, was appointed to the board of the Rowntree Village Trust and was instrumental in establishing the New Earswick Nature Reserves in 1952 and the River Foss Society in 1973. His life both reflected and contributed to significant change in York's economic, social and cultural history. The lecture will illustrate the many sides to his life.
