Event details

Psychedelics in Medicine Society event

Music festival environments provide unique environments and cultural contexts for people to use psychoactive substances. However, often people using substances in these settings can end up feeling overwhelmed. Psycare UK provides event harm reduction and welfare service which specialises in managing challenging drug experiences. This talk will cover Psycare UK work from a volunteer's unofficial perspective, covering information about the charity and personal insights gained from volunteering with Psycare UK.

About the speaker

Ry is a University of York Ph.D student researching Quantum Cryptography and Communications. Outside of her lab work, she is active within the psychedelic space, providing welfare as a Psycare UK volunteer, working on the UoY Psychedelics in Medicine Society committee as a Welfare Officer and organising events as part of the UK Psychedelic alumni network. She has a keen fascination in the fields of neuropharmacology, organic synthesis and the sociopolitical aspects of psychedelic studies - with a special interest in how LGBTQ+ people engage with psychoactive drugs.
