As a University for Public Good, environmental sustainability stands as one of our four core principles, acting as a powerful driver for research, education and partnerships. During this talk we'll hear from a number of speakers focusing on each of these aspects.
Research
In his talk, Professor Mark Hodson a professor of Environmental Science and Head of the Department of Environment and Geography will share the findings of his fascinating research into earthworms. From looking at them as an early indicator for contaminated soil to discussing their impact on soil, including the plants that grow and how climate change is affecting them.
Education
Tim Doheny-Adams, Senior Lecturer in Biology will then explain how sustainability is embedded into our teaching. He will highlight key pedagogical approaches used to engage students across multiple departments in topics like biotechnology and food systems.
Partnerships
Finally we'll hear from Professor Stephen Levett, Director of the Sustainability Clinic and Co-Director of the Baroness Hale Law. In his talk he'll look at the ways partnerships can support students to engage with sustainability, specifically looking some of the projects the sustainability clinic has been involved with.
