Disability History Month Lecture

Drawing on her personal experiences of ever-increasing hearing loss and her extensive research into the experience of disability, chronic illness and/or neurodivergence, Nicole Brown discusses what it means to be different in contemporary higher education. In her talk, Nicole outlines what it means to come to terms with a diagnosis on a personal level, how this impacts disclosure at the workplace and how difficult it is to navigate the spaces between neat, theoretical categories and the messiness of embodied experiences.
