Katie will present an overview of the strategy to create the UK's first carbon-negative, circular region. This will include how the strategy has been collaboratively developed, key achievements to date and lessons learnt in the process of implementation.

Katie will talk about circular business models and strategies for success. She will be joined by Too Good to Go, whose mission is to “Save Food, Help the Planet”. A third of all food is wasted and Too Good to Go are building a movement to eliminate food waste. They will be talking about their business model, utilising an app and magic bags to rescue unsold food, and their partnership with Circular Yorkshire.

This masterclass series on Circular Economy is a collaboration between the University of York Management School and the Local Enterprise Partnership.

Katie Thomas

As Senior Strategy Manager for Low Carbon and Environment at the York and North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership, Katie's role is focused on working collaboratively to create a systemic shift towards a low carbon, circular future.

Katie has led the development of York and North Yorkshire's Local Energy Strategy and Circular Economy Strategy. Previously she led the circular econopmy programme in Peterborough, which aspires to create the UK's first circular city.
