York Blockchain and Innovation Society event

Hosted in conjunction with the York Science Park, York Blockchain and Innovation Society, and the Northern Blockchain Group.

Gavin Wood, founder of Parity Technologies and co-Founder of Ethereum, will be returning to the University of York on 1 November to deliver a talk on his journey from York graduate to international tech leader.

Gavin was one of the co-founders and previously the Chief Technical Officer for Ethereum, which launched in 2014.

Ethereum is an open source blockchain distributed software system and platform which generates Ether, the third most popular cryptocurrency in the world, which is worth £14 billion and has more than 45 million users globally.

His talk will focus on the computational and sociological aspects of Ethereum, blockchain and smart contracts.

Gavin studied for both his Master of Engineering and his PhD in Computer Science at the University of York, graduating in 2005. After graduating he worked as a technical director and consultant in a range of roles before co-founding Ethereum and working as the Chief Technical Officer for the first 24 months of the project.
