Practice facilties are available to staff and students throughout the week, including large rehearsal spaces and practice rooms. Each rehearsal space has a piano as well as access to chairs and music stands.

Rooms 107, 118, 119, and 120 are available for rehearsal space for medium-sized ensembles. Rooms 058 and 106 have a greater capacity and can be used for larger ensemble practices.
On occasion, the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall is available for student rehearsals; first study percussionists and organists are granted first priority booking for the hall. The Rymer Auditorium is only available to postgraduate students and staff.
There are also four large seminar rooms available during weekdays in Sally Baldwin C and D blocks.
The Music Department has twenty-eight practice rooms available for student use, most of which are available from 7am until 11pm (including weekends) for undergraduates, and 24 hours a day for postgraduates.
Following a programme of major investment, we now have fourteen new Schimmel upright pianos to add to our existing stock. We also have nine grand pianos available for practice, including two recently-refurbished Yamaha grands. Our three Steinway pianos have all recently been fully restored by Steinways of London.
