Congratulations to Prof Nicolas Gisin, of the University of Geneva and Constructor University, who was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of the University on 21 July 2025. Prof Gisin is internationally renowned for his work in quantum communication and the foundations of quantum mechanics with many major achievements to his name. He was presented by Prof Roger Colbeck, whose oration can be read here, and addressed our graduating students, reflecting on his own career and encouraging them to make their own dreams a reality.
During his visit, Prof Gisin gave an inspiring research seminar on Indeterminism in Physics and Intuitionistic Mathematics and took part in lively discussions with members of our Mathematical Physics and Quantum Information group, and colleagues from Computer Science and the School of Physics, Engineering and Technology.
