The Centre for Applied Human Rights and York Law School co-sponsor side event on noma at the Seventy-Sixth World Health Assembly.

On Tuesday 23 May 2023, Dr Ioana Cismas, Co-Director of the University of York’s Centre for Applied Human Rights, will participate in the event ‘From Noma to Health for All: Addressing the imperative of the most neglected communities’.

Dr Cismas will speak alongside noma advocates and survivors, as well as representatives of Member States, the World Health Organisation and Médecins Sans Frontières.

Drawing from ongoing research with Alice Trotter at the Centre for Applied Human Rights, Dr Cismas will discuss the importance of integrating human rights-based approaches to addressing the prevalence, incidence and lived experiences of noma.
