You will need to take action on each device you wish to connect to the wireless network (eduroam) or to the student wired network. If you don't go through the procedure your device may not have connectivity.
The action is not required for games consoles etc that are registered on MyDevices.
You may only need to confirm that you are connecting to the right network in response to a message similar to this (the screenshot below was taken from a Windows 10 device):
If you expect to find eduroam in this location, go ahead and connect. Otherwise, it may be a different network with the same name.
Some devices may ask you to accept a new certificate. If this is the case and the device connects successfully there is no further action required.
However, if you aren't able to connect to the network then you will need to repeat the network setup process:
On managed Windows devices, you may be prompted to accept a new certificate or confirm that you are connecting to eduroam, as in the example below:

If you expect to find your organization's network in this location, go ahead and connect.
If you get taken to the onboard.york.ac.uk network setup page do not follow the steps on this page (this setup tool is intended for unmanaged and personal devices). Instead, to reconnect to the eduroam wifi network:
Managed Mac and Linux devices should follow the same process as personal and unmanaged devices.
