New IT facilities to support research computing

We are pleased to announce new additional facilities to support research computing.

York Advanced Research Computing Cluster (YARCC)

YARCC has been upgraded to double its size and now contains:

  • 70 nodes, 138 processors, 1462 cores, 10.2TB RAM;
  • Six nodes containing GPU cards: 
    • 2 nodes with a nVidia K20 GPGPU card;
    • 2 nodes with a nVidia K40 GPGPU card;
    • 1 node with a nVidia K80 GPGPU card;
    • 1 node with 2 Intel XEON-phi cards.

Interactive Research Linux Service

Two additional servers have been purchased to provide increased capacity of the Interactive Linux service:

  • research1.york.ac.uk - a large Intel based Linux server, with 28 cores and 512 GB of memory;
  • research2.york.ac.uk - a large Intel based Linux server, with 28 cores and 512 GB of memory.

These servers are in addition to:

  • research0.york.ac.uk - a large AMD based Linux server, with 64 cores and 512 GB of memory.
