The Institute of Mental Health Research at York appoints its new director.

The Institute of Mental Health Research at York (IMRY) has announced that Professor Scott Cairney has been appointed as its new Director.

Professor Scott Cairney has been appointed as IMRY Director and will take up his new role on 1st September 2024. Scott has worked with IMRY as an Associate Director since the launch of the institute in 2022. His research focuses on sleep’s role in mental health, with a particular interest in how sleep problems increase mental health risks.

Professor Cairney said: "I'm thrilled to take on this role at such a pivotal moment for global mental health, and to lead research that will transform how we understand and address the mental health challenges of our time."
