A conversation about anxiety: Its impact upon us and how best to manage it

Dr Alex Pike and Dr Melanie Forster, are releasing a video conversation to mark Mark Mental Health Awareness Week 2023.

Join Dr Alexandra Pike and Dr Melanie Forster online on the evening of 15 May for an illuminating discussion on the many faces of anxiety and how to recognise when this normal human emotion starts to become a problem. The discussion focuses on anxiety which is a normal bodily response that most of us experience from time to time.  However, repeated anxiety experiences can escalate to the extent it impacts our ability to function effectively in life and can sometimes lead to the development of an Anxiety Disorder.

Alex and Melanie explore how to recognise when a reasonable reaction develops into something more unhelpful and what steps you might take to try to reduce your anxiety symptoms and better support your emotional wellbeing and mental health. Learn about a range of useful resources and start to build your own bespoke collection of techniques for managing your anxiety over time.

This year’s Mental Health Awareness Week, led by the Mental Health Foundation, takes place from 15 to 21 May 2023. The theme this year is anxiety, one of the UK's most common mental health issues.
