Sleep and Gambling Harms Survey

Research suggests sleep and gambling are linked. But it can be a vicious circle: poor sleep may increase vulnerability to gambling harm, but gambling may also disrupt sleep.

More research is needed, and at IMRY we need your help to decide which questions should be prioritised.

Why are we asking?

We want research to matter to the people it might affect. What would you like to know about sleep and gambling? What could make a difference to your life or the lives of others?

Who can take part?

Any adult who has views on gambling and/or sleep, whether as someone with lived experience or as a professional (e.g., researcher, clinician, local authority worker). You must be aged 18 or over. All responses will be treated confidentially.

How do I take part?

The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete. You will be required to read a survey information sheet before completing the survey. Here you can access this and the survey

The survey will close in early November 2026. After that, we’ll group our respondents' answers together to create research themes for future projects.

The survey information sheet is also available in a pdf format: Survey Information Sheet

If you have any queries about the survey, please get in touch with the project lead, Professor Scott Cairney, on scott.cairney@york.ac.uk
