Tuesday 27 February 2018, 6.00PM

Speaker: Professor David Barnett (Theatre, Film and Television, University of York) Dr Cadence Kinsey (History of Art, University of York)

Cadence Kinsey with present as part of this event, hosted by the Centre for Modern Studies (CMods). This research seminar will focus on artistic production and politics today. David Barnett’s talk will consider how Brechtian approaches to staging an apparently political play – Arthur Miller’s The Crucible – can reveal and fashion a politics rarely acknowledged in performance. Cadence Kinsey’s talk will examine a range of contemporary artworks that raise difficult questions about digital economies, labour and austerity, but in a non-transparent way.
