Wentworth College opened in October 1972 and became the University of York's first postgraduate only college in 2002. The Wentworth community is diverse, consisting of a mixture of taught and research postgraduates from the UK and from all around the world.

Our mission is to "enable and support our members to build and shape their own inclusive and supportive community. The college aims for every member to feel that being part of Wentworth has given them opportunities that have enriched their experience at the University of York."
There are lots of different ways that you can get involved in your college community, including coming to events, participating in our gardening project, playing sport for Wentworth or getting involved in running the college!
There are 3 committees within the Wentworth College governance structure:
- GCR Committee (student body)
- SCR Committee (staff body)
- College Council (on which representatives from the SCR and GCR sit)
We also follow the College Service Standards
The College Team
The College team is made up of a College Principal, College Manager, College Administrator and College Tutors.
Per diversa inventio - In diversity, discovery was adopted officially as the motto for Wentworth College in 2016, following a college competition to create a new motto.
