James College

Welcome to James College!

Our namesake, Baron James of Rusholme, was York’s first Vice-Chancellor. Lord James played a major role in the University’s architectural plans and was responsible in part for the collegiate system, through his desire for students to be part of a close-knit community.

Now with over 2,000 student members, around 600 of which live on Campus West, our sense of college community remains as strong as ever!

The community at James College is fantastic - it’s warm, welcoming and we always have lots of fun. The support system here is great too. You can talk to your peers, STYMs, the College Team - it means you always feel like you have someone to turn to.
