Green Chemistry Sustainability Success
Posted on Thursday 2 July 2026
The awards were presented by Vice-Chancellor Professor Charlie Jeffery during the campus ceremony.
Our team’s hard work was recognised across several categories:
- Diamond Award: For our comprehensive sustainability workbook and engagement with the research community.
- Platinum Award (Project Category): For The Sustainable Lab Quest – Adventures of The Little Green Chemist. This dynamic awareness campaign promotes sustainable laboratory practices across higher education, industry, schools, and the general public. At the heart of the campaign is our mascot, "The Little Green Chemist," a playful yet effective tool for capturing attention and reinforcing key environmental messages.
- Silver Award (Student Project Category): For Green Chemistry Garden: From Waste to Growth, an initiative that redirects spent coffee grounds from the Green Chemistry Centre to a compost bin in the Derwent garden.
- Special Recognition for Megan Goss. We are delighted to share that Megan Goss was named a Highly Commended recipient in the Special Recognition Award (Individual) category. This well-deserved recognition highlights Megan's outstanding personal dedication and impactful contributions to driving sustainability initiatives across our community
