Menglian Zhang

Menglian Zhang holds a bachelor’s degree in Musicology from Zhejiang Normal University. She worked as a piano and music teacher in schools. In her graduation thesis, she did researches about the gender difference on the perception of music aesthetic emotions with symphony music of high school students.

Then she studied in the program Music, Mind and Brain in the psychology department at Goldsmiths, University of London. There she finished a paper titled ‘Cognitive Characteristics of Gifted Musical Students and Adults’.

After graduated from Goldsmiths, she joined the YMPG at the University of York as a PhD student. Her study focuses on the relationship between music emotion recognition and the music perception ability of teenagers.
