Event details
Celebrate 75 years since the start of the hit BBC Radio Comedy series The Goon Show! (formerly Crazy People) in May 1951. The groundbreaking comedy show made stars out of its cast of comedians, including Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan, Harry Secombe and Michael Bentine. There will be two live performances of classic episodes featuring the cast of the very first stage productions of the series as part of Birmingham Comedy Festival. There will be a look at the history of the show and the archives of The Goon Show Preservation Society and other comedy archives held at the Borthwick Institute for Archives in the company of the Keeper of Archives and Research Collections, Gary Brannan.
This event is part of the York 50+ Festival
