Event details

Finding entry-level and early-career jobs in film production can seem like a difficult and daunting task. How do you land jobs? What are the different routes into production? How do you network and build contacts? Are trainee programmes worth it? What does freelance work/life balance look like?

Join us for a panel discussion and Q&A on early careers in location sound. We will be joined by a number of alumni of the ACT Film & Television Production degree as well as other sound crew working in the UK film industry. Panel members will include Lewis Monckton (sound trainee on Adolescence, MobLand, Fackham Hall, Tip Toe), Francesca Cruz-Tavolara (sound assistant on Emmerdale Farm, The Football Fanatics, Pride & Prejudice) and Waqar Shah (sound mixer on I Could Never Go Vegan, He Kills At Night, Afterglow). We will discuss the different routes they took to get into the film industry after university, as well as insights and advice for students to work in this area. There will also be an opportunity for students to ask questions and have a chat with the panel.
