Trigger Warnings: Sexual Violence

1000 Papercuts offers a distinctive new work on sexual violence at the intersection of South Asian theatre, dance, martial arts, music, poetry, slave-history inspired percussion, women’s stories and socially engaged performance. It is artistically rigorous, autobiographical, emotionally direct and accessible to audiences beyond traditional south Asian arts attendees. It is a follow up to the award-winning dance short film Dirty Secrets which has over 300,000 views.

The production uses the precision and expressive depth of multiple art forms to create a layered live experience. While the work emerges from South Asian cultural forms, its themes — silence, shame, survival, healing, reclamation, memory, bodily autonomy and the need to be heard — speak urgently across communities.
