Two York Students Awarded Margaret Orme Prizes

Derek Parrott (MA Medieval Archaeology) and Katharine Waring (BA Archaeology) receive prestigious award for their dissertations

Two York graduates have received the 2018-19 Margaret Orme Prizes for Old Norse Studies by the Viking Society for Northern Research:

Katharine Waring: 2018-19 Margaret Orme Prize for Undergraduate Old Norse Studies by the Viking Society for Northern Research, for dissertation 'An Investigation of Styca Usage in 8th-9th Century Northumbria Utilising Portable Antiquities Scheme Data'.

Derek Parrott 2018-19 Margaret Orme Prize for Postgraduate Old Norse Studies by the Viking Society for Northern Research, for your MA dissertation "Gotland’s Insular Jewelry: Using Object Biography to Answer Questions of Ethnicity"

The prize includes a free membership of the Society for five years, a cash prize, and the ability to select up to £100 worth of books. The winners have been invited to attend the next annual dinner of the Viking Society, in November 2020.
