Respect at York

The University of York is committed to ensuring all members of our University community feel respected and supported. Any form of sexual violence, domestic abuse, hate crime, harassment and bullying is never acceptable.

We aim to create an inclusive and safe environment in-person and online, on campus and across the city, where we tackle prejudice and discrimination head on.

Respect at York is about us being aware of how our language and behaviour impacts others, and working to create and embed a culture where everyone feels respected. This comes from showing care and understanding for others, respecting differences in circumstances, culture and background and acting accordingly.

Our Respect at York activities aim to:

  • Raise awareness of the different ways in which we can respect one another's differences
  • Connect us across our different communities and cultures
  • Promote training and prevention
  • Connect you to the support available at York

You will find information, training and key events around campus and online. We encourage everyone within our community to get involved, consider your language and behaviour towards others and help us build an inclusive and respectful environment for everyone.
