Dr Cabras is currently exploring and analysing the role of village pubs in creating community cohesion, social capital and engagement, and economic wellbeing in rural areas of England.
Having witnessed the disappointment and negative effect pub closures have on rural communities he wants to give these communities the support they need to maintain their own local pubs. He aims to quantify the associated benefits in villages that do have pubs to those that don’t.
