Professor Linstead was discussant on a paper by Professor
Ann Cunliffe of the University of New Mexico on Imagining Self in Liminal
Spaces."Ann wanted to create more space for discussion and
interaction than is customary, which gave me more scope to stimulate
discussion" said Professor LInstead. The award, for the most energising
discussant contribution, is also known as the "Bob" award, after Bob
Dylan. Dylan, known for a remarkable lifetime of creative and
provocative contributions to his field, was awarded an honorary
doctorate by the University of St Andrews whilst one of the founders of
APROS, Professor Stewart Clegg, was Head of Department there in the 1990s -
hence the connection. "Unfortunately, because of the Never-ending Tour,
Dr. Zimmerman wasn't able to present the award in person" said Professor LInstead.
Cunliffe and Linstead previously teamed up to win two Best Symposium awards at
the US Academy of Management in 2006.
